St Ninian's Catholic Church in Dundee has been nominated for the Best Community Project Award of The Scottish Green Energy Awards 2026. The parish is in an area of multiple deprivation and they have a long commitment to renewable energy. A legacy PV installation has been taken to another level in the last few years with the installation of heat pumps, insulation, PV and batteries. The parish has been instrumental in inspiring other dioceses and parishes in the rollout of using ‘green’ energy within Scottish Catholic Church properties.

The nomination for the Best Community Project Award acknowledges the parish’s commitment to the local community in providing a community café twice a week where free hot meals are provided for 20-25 people. Finalists will be announced w/c 12th October, and the Awards Ceremony takes place at the EICC in Edinburgh on Thursday 3rd December 2026.
